Notes from the digital darkroom

September 30th, 2005,

So the eight photos I'm currently editing are finally making some headway. I've got five of them done, one that I left at home, one that I'm thinking about just re-scanning a print version of because the dust is truly painful. The lab's closing up in a few minutes, and I was almost done with a Level One Manual Despeckling Pass on the other.

A Level One Manual Despeckling Pass, incidentally, is when I move through the photo at 50% zoom and remove any dust I see. Level Two is 66%, Level 3 is 100% and Level 4 is 125%. A lot of people will tell you that you can't see any adjustments made above 100%, but…well, I'm anal.

My big problem today is that my files are so heavily edited that they will no longer fit on one disk. Eight files, two discs, and tomorrow they'll require 3. I may have to upgrade to DVD-R capabilities.

Which just brings me back to wanting a new, SOTA Powerbook.

Anyway, looks like I might be able to do some test printing later tomorrow. That'd be really keen.
